Rich fudgey chocolate sauce – delicious, chocolate sauce that is perfect as a dip for your favorite fruits or topping for baked goodies.
Rich fudgey chocolate sauce
Chocolate is one of my serious weaknesses.
Not just any chocolate, it must be dark and rich but if it ticks both those boxes – get in my belly!
I have been trying to stick with healthy versions but sometimes you just have to give in. I mean technically, if it’s good quality then it’s actually pretty nutrient-rich.
Somehow, at a mother’s group mummies’ night out, we got on to the subject of churros.
A few minutes later we were all heading out the door with churros on the brain, making a beeline for where we thought we could get some.
Then one or two of us started yawning and we realised we kind of wanted to be home in bed more than we wanted churros.
One wonderful mum suggested that she would make them for our weekly gathering the following Tuesday and what was the first thing that came out of my mouth?
‘I’ll make chocolate sauce!’ I was already dreaming of licking the spoon.
That day I texted her ‘really shouldn’t have made the sauce so early.
There might not be any left by this afternoon.’
Luckily it made it down the road to her house only missing a spoonful or two (I won’t mention the pot that didn’t need much more than a rinse after I’d finished with it. Oops.)
My rich fudgey chocolate sauce is pretty irresistible if I do say so myself.
It doesn’t have too much sugar (you could substitute with maple syrup, honey or leave it out) and, if you want to make it dairy-free (with dairy-free chocolate of course), you can use all water instead of cream.
I have to admit I brought the leftovers home and enjoyed a few spoons drizzled over strawberries for dessert for a few nights afterwards.
Enjoy!
What about you? Are you a dark, milk or white chocolate fan?

My chocolate cravings have definitely kicked in after seeing this wicked sauce. Amazing.
Haha I’m not sure whether to say I’m sorry or you’re welcome?
love churros, but the best part is the sauce… Yours looks wonderfully decadent! :-) Luz x
I don’t think I could choose between sauce and churros! x
I am an equal opportunity chocolate eater but it depends on my mood. I actually love a mix of ilk and dark together the most though :D
haha equal opportunity chocolate eater… I love that!
I love dark chocolate, & often make a chocolate sauce, but don’t put any sugar in it, as I am diabetic. It looks really good, so I will try it, but use some Stevia instead. Mine is usually made with cream & dark chocolate.
I am yet to try Stevia Kerry. I really must give it a go.
Gorgous sauce Claire. I could eat the whole lot of it in minutes too.
Thanks Tania
Your chocolate sauce looks really rich and dark. I love making chocolate sauce but like you, find my spoon is constantly scrapping a bit off the top and by the time I’m ready to serve it, find I’ve eaten half the contents. I do love it hot, spooned over ice cream xx
Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one Charlie! x
I vote for dark chocolate! And I must try your recipe – it sounds delicious.
Yay Diane and yes yes you must!
