6 Spooktacular Halloween treats
It’s that time of year again. The ghouls are coming out of hiding and people everywhere are dragging skeletons from their closets.
The werewolves are practicing their howling (do they do that on Halloween too?) and the Zombies perfecting their walk. Ok you get the point – next week it’s Halloween!
It’s one time of year when I pretty much throw my ‘no sugar (or very little sugar)’ rule out the window and let the kids go a little nuts so I figure why do any differently here.
I’ve put together 6 spooktacular halloween treats.
If this isn’t enough ideas for you, I have collected loads more terrifying creations on my Halloween Pinterest board.
1 Bloody Eyeball Cake Balls
I begin with bloody eyeball truffles. These would make the perfect freaky treat for trick-or-treaters if you wrap them individually. Also perfect as a dessert snack and fit rather nicely in your mouth in one bite.
2 Skeleton biscuits
Spooktacular skeleton biscuits are next. Who doesn’t love a gingerbread who has escaped from the graveyard? Some of his friends weren’t so lucky as to escape with all bones in place.
3 Choc-hazelnut witches cupcakes
I see a lot of witches around here at Halloween. They lurk the streets begging for treats and are usually accompanied by a skeleton or zombie. Give them a taste of their own medicine with witches’ hat cupcakes. You could make these little hats to go on any cupcake but I’m rather fond of the choc-hazelnut version.
4 Bloody-maggot filled brain cake
My evil genius creation from last year was the brain piñata cake filled with bloody maggots. This one is sure to be a crowd revolter. Don’t ask me where the idea came from. I have no idea but clearly my mind has a few dark places. Can you see why I had a hard time beating last year’s recipe?
5 Blood-stained glass cupcakes
Halloween is also my wonderful husband’s Birthday. One year we were particularly obsessed with the TV show Dexter so naturally I had to make Dexter-inspired blood stained glass cupcakes to mark the occasion. There’s even an edible blood slide in there to be totally authentic.
6 Chocolate spice swirl cookies
For those who still like to celebrate but aren’t really into the disgustingness level that I am, these chocolate spice swirl cookies are Halloween-inspired, delicious and won’t disgust anyone (unless you know someone who hates chocolate).
Have a spooktacular Halloween!
These are all gorgeous, Claire but I think my favourite are the beautifully iced skeleton biscuits xx
Thanks Charlie!
