It seems golf has become a larger part of my life than I ever imagined. A year ago I thought it was the most boring thing ever (after cricket) but now, after learning a bit and playing a few rounds of 9 holes, I have to admit, it's not really that bad. I'm still not so keen on golf clubs filling the car and tripping over the occasional golf ball but I'm much more receptive to golf talk and the game itself.
When a family friend asked me to make a Birthday cake for a joint 60th Birthday dinner for her husband and my dad, a golf theme immediately sprang to mind. Last year I made a hole-in-one cake for Will so a variation of the theme it was.
To make the golf green cake I first iced the cake with a crumb layer. I then iced it with a layer of green icing making sure it was as smooth as possible on the top. I used a star tip on the piping bag to pipe the 'rough' around the green. To finish it off, I used the tip of a sharp knife to make the hole and a skewer as the pin. The golf ball is a squished mini marshmallow. The cake was a hit!

Mr Glam and I have played golf together, not very successfully on my part. What an incredibly frustrating game! Your cake looks great. GG

It is unbelievably frustrating yes but I find if you try not to let it get to you it's ok. That or quit the hole that's annoying you and pick up the ball. I do that a fair bit.
