Keeping your home clean and nicely organised is not always an easy job, especially if you have children or work long hours. Maintaining a level of tidiness however, is not only a matter of taking care of the aesthetics but personal hygiene (and sanity!) as well. No matter how busy you are, it’s important to find some time and focus on getting your home in order, turning it into a much healthier and happier place to live in. Let’s take a look at 6 easy ways to keep your house clean and tidy.

Declutter your space

Number one of 6 things ways to keep your house clean and tidy..., if you are not sure about how and where to start, decluttering is definitely the right answer. After all, nothing that you do to make your home prettier and tidier won’t matter if it’s full of useless garbage and items that nobody really needs. So, instead of just moving that mess from one place to another, make a plan and declutter your home systematically room by room.

Wash the dishes in the evening

Sometimes, after dinner, all we want to do is lie down and watch our favourite TV show. But what about the dishes? “Well, I’ll wash them in the morning,” you are thinking. Even though we do understand your temptation to postpone this dreary task, you must understand that you’re not doing yourself a favour. On the contrary, you’ll wake up the next morning and regret your decision. So, if you want to have a peaceful morning, it’s important to develop a before-bed routine which will include turning your dishwasher on, as well as a quick kitchen clean.

Set a routine

If you want to make your life easier and keep your home in order all the time, setting a clear daily routine is what you should definitely do. Owing to it, you’ll know exactly when and what you need to do, so it will be much easier for you to organize your day according to these tasks. Of course, aside from having a daily routine, don’t hesitate to go a step further and set a weekly and monthly one as well.

Don’t let the allergens spoil the fun

Unfortunately, our homes are full of numerous allergens which can be found literally anywhere, from our carpets and furniture to our linens. Furthermore, mites and mold are our biggest enemies since they can cause allergic reactions and seriously damage our health. Therefore, it’s essential to find an efficient way of removing them and opting for a good mould air purifier is definitely one of the best solutions. Owing to it, the indoor air will be much cleaner and the whole family will be able to breathe freely without constantly fearing allergies and other health problems.

Schedule a seasonal clean

Aside from sticking to your daily and weekly routine, you need to organise a seasonal cleaning from time to time as well. This will be the perfect time to do some things that you usually don’t have time for like sorting out your pantry, washing your windows and giving your carpets a deep clean. The last task is particularly important since our carpets can become a home to a multitude of bacteria and the above-mentioned allergens, so we have to make sure to get rid of them all as soon as possible.

Use green cleaning products

Regular cleaning products contain toxic chemicals which are released into the air every time you use them. They can lead to serious health issues like allergic attacks and respiratory difficulties. This is particularly dangerous for children, so make sure that you use only green cleaning products for their rooms. On top of that, you can try out some DIY options as well, such as vinegar and lemon, since they are both natural and super-effective. Finally, don’t forget to teach your children about these little life hacks as well. After all, including them in the cleaning process will make them feel proud of themselves and help them become responsible and independent much faster.

As you can see, keeping your home clean and healthy doesn’t have to be that hard after all. You just need to develop a sound plan, stick to your routine and everything will be just fine. Finally, don’t forget that safety comes first so make sure to eliminate all the health hazards and only use green cleaning products.

Great tips! I recently read an article about how your cleaning habits can affect your allergies and it's something that I never thought of before! I appreciated seeing allergies mentioned here because they are a big problem for some of us! I also need to get better at washing dishes every evening. We don't have a dishwasher so it's a pain to have to wash a ton of dishes after cooking a meal, but it's worth it when they don't stack up and become way more work. Thanks for the tips and motivation!
