How to clean jewellery at home
When I first got engaged, I have to admit, I was a little bit obsessed with scrubbing my diamonds. I liked them sparkly! Who doesn't though?
I think I had it professionally cleaned twice in the first year but then I learned how to clean jewellery at home so it could sparkle all year long not just after an expensive visit to the jeweller.
I can't remember where I got this trick from originally but it works for all sorts of jewellery and can pretty miraculously bring tarnished silver jewellery back to its shiny glory too.
The only thing that I can't promise is that it definitely won't damage your jewels. I've been doing it for years and never had anything bad happen and I can't see why it would do any damage but consider this my little disclaimer I guess.

You will need:
- a piece of aluminium foil
- baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- fine salt
- boiling water
- a heat-proof bowl
To clean your jewellery:
- Fold the sheet of alfoil so it fits in the bottom of your bowl.
- Sprinkle a little baking soda and salt over the bottom then lay your jewellery over it in a single layer.
- Cover the jewellery with another layer of soda and salt.
- Carefully pour boiling water into the bowl until the jewellery is submerged.
- Watch it bubble away. You might want to give it a little jiggle with a fork so the powders get into the crevices.
- Very carefully rinse the jewellery and clean it.

That's it. As I said, so so very easy and so effective. You could probably use it to clean silver cutlery as well although I haven't tried.
If it's still a little dirty or was seriously tarnished just repeat the above.
