This healthy chocolate thickshake is creamy, chocolatey, and naturally sweetened — a quick and satisfying treat that feels indulgent but is packed with goodness.

This thickshake is good. Really good. So good that after adding the photos to the post I wanted one so badly I had to go and make myself a glass. I'm back, with a belly full of thickshake, to share my recipe.
I posted something very similar a while back but my new and improved version is much better for you with no nasty fake sugar. It has a few more calories than the original but it packs a healthy punch too.

The chocolate flavour comes from good quality cocoa - or you can use cacao - and the sweetness from frozen bananas and a little bit of vanilla. It tastes unbelievably rich and decadent but really it's totally healthy.
I use milk or a milk/water combo in mine but you could just use water for more of a frappe, coconut milk for a choc-coconut delight or coconut water if you want to be all up with the latest trend.

Another variation - goodness this is flexible - is to halve the liquid and blend it up until it's the consistency of ice-cream. Yes you read that correctly. If you leave it really thick it's like rich chocolate gelato that you can eat every day.
It's my go-to summer snack and I'm sure once you've tried it it will be yours too. I even have it for dessert some nights.

I just thought of another variation - add a little peppermint essence and you'll have yourself a choc-mint smoothie. I must try that tomorrow. Enjoy!
What about you? What's your favourite quick summer healthy snack?

Banana smoothies were a revolution when I was growing up - back in the day ..An addiction developed after the purchase of a blender and the endless opportunity to indulge in this luscious frothy beverage. So not much convincing is required to encourage me to give this recipe a go...By the way, I adore the 'jar' mug..Would it be too presumptuous of me to ask from where you acquired it?

Kris not at all. I have been looking for them for ages but found it at Cotton & Co in Hamilton, Brisbane http://www.codesignportside.com.au/
