Chocolate breakfast smoothie
I am on day two of a three-day juice cleanse. I got the email from Schkinny Manniny last year when I was breastfeeding and right in the thick of newborn haze so put it aside then promptly forgot about it.
January rolled around and it’s all new years resolution this and new fad that and I remembered my email. I’ve never really been into any sort of diets or cleanses or anything like that but ‘why not?’ I thought.
Why not? Maybe because I write about food, I cook food, I have three other people who I have to feed every day, my instagram feed is full of food… the list continues but here I am. Day two. Nine juices down nine to go.
I’m no stranger to juices and smoothies. I know variety is the spice of life but I have the exact same breakfast nearly every morning. I have perfected my recipe.

Breakfast for this mumma must be quick, easy and healthy and keep me going until whenever it is that I get to eat lunch. My chocolate breakfast smoothie ticks all the boxes and I even got the nod for ‘nutritionally balanced’ from my nutritionist friend Shannon from Mums and Bubs.
The basic ingredients for a good, healthy and filling smoothie are:
- healthy fats
Mine has all these as well as being so delicious you might think it was a dessert. Shannon did comment that it sounds a big complicated but I have a trick so you can make it in a minute or two.

On the weekends I measure out the ingredients for 5 smoothies into 5 separate zip-lock bags bags. I include everything but the peanut butter and liquid. Then each morning I just dump it into the blender, add the PB and liquid and whiz it all up.
Because this is one of my most-used recipes I thought I’d try out a special format for it. What do you think? Enjoy!
