Pinterest comes to life



Have you heard of Pinterest? It has revolutionalised the way I save recipes, ideas, inspiration and generally cool things I find in my many hours of internet searching. It is a virtual pin board where you can stick a photo of something you want to save with a short description and it will then ‘pin’ that photo to one of your boards (you can name them for different categories) along with a link to where you found it. I use it to save recipes, sewing ideas, clever DIY and it has been brilliant for wedding planning. Even for something like finding a musician – instead of writing down the details of each one, I just ‘pinned’ them to my musician board with a few notes and had them all in the one place to compare.

My biggest board at the moment, with 231 pins and counting, is my recipes board. It’s where I save all the fabulous looking recipes I come across and is so much more user friendly than when I used to copy each one into an email with a link at the bottom. I’ve recreated heaps of Pinterest recipes recently so I thought I’d do a little bit of a run through with the originals and my version. Mini lasagnas

These mini lasagnas from Can you stay for dinner were delicious. They were the perfect way to make lasagna a little more dinner party friendly. Here’s my version.

Low calorie berry muffins

Yesterday’s low-calorie berry muffins were from Gina’s Skinny Recipes. She’s a great source of low-calorie delights.

Chewy chcoolate chip cookies

Barbara Bakes’ chewy chocolate chip cookies were a huge success. I’ve baked them at least five times since the original batch and added my own twist.

Baked chickpea nibbles

I loved the presentation of these baked chickpea nibbles on Food for Tots so much I even tried to replicate it as well as the recipe.

Hot dog rolls

Hot dogs on the barbecue are a regular Saturday lunch item in our house so when I found an easy recipe for hot dog rolls over at Annie Eats, I just had to give them a go. The verdict – even better than the store-bought version.

Lemon cream cheese cake

Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial has never failed me with her recipes and this lemon cream cheese cake was no different. It was so dense and flavoursome.

Olive bread

You cannot go wrong with the olive bread recipe from All Recipes. I have since made it with different flours and fillings and it was perfect every time.

Lemonade scones

Another recipe from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial and also my first ever attempt at scones. Wow were these good. With just 3 ingredients and gentle hands you really can’t go wrong.

Hedwig the owl cookies

I couldn’t let the last Harry Potter movie release go by without celebrating it with food. I found a photo of these gorgeous owl cookies on Flikr and just had to recreate them as Hedwig the owl cookies.

Tiramisu cake

Last week I replicated this Tiramisu inspired cake for my friend’s Birthday. It wasn’t too hard to do and was very effective.

    Ob.Sess.Ed!! with Pinterest and everyone I know I have preached to is totally obsessed now too lol its so great!!
